A Porceleyne Fles delft hand painted plaque (Large tile) after a painting by W. Roelofs. The large plaque is executed in sepia color. The plaque is painted by J.B.J van der Horst who worked for the Porceleyne fles factory from 1883-1918. The year letter P written on the back stands for 1894 as year of production. Established in 1653, De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles is the only remaining delft blue pottery factory from the 17th century. This atmospheric plaque is painted after a 19th century painting “Early Morning” of Willem Roelofs (March 10, 1822-May 12, 1897). He was a Dutch impressionist painter and one of a group of artist who lived in The Hague. He painted this painting in 1870. Tile is in excellent condition, frame has a few small stains.
