A beautiful original Art Nouveau tile by S.O.F. (Sächsische Ofen- und Schamottewarenfabrik), Meissen, Germany, dating to the early 1900s. The design features a highly stylised architectural motif with three slender stems rising into elegant scrolls and floral forms, all framed by a softly arched fan-like element. The subtle palette of smoky grey, pale green and white gives the tile a refined, almost graphic look, typical of Jugendstil design. The decoration is executed in relief with softly shaded glazes, creating depth and a gentle tonal transition across the raised lines. The tile shows an attractive, even surface with typical age-related crazing, and the factory mark is clearly visible on the reverse.
