This geometric Art Nouveau tile was produced by the Norddeutsche Steingutfabrik (NStG), Grohn, a manufacturer well known for its innovative and finely executed dust-pressed designs. The composition features a bold arrangement of interlocking squares and rectangles in rich oxblood red, framing a deep midnight-blue centre. The outer border, glazed in a dark green, provides a strong architectural contrast and enhances the tile’s striking graphic quality. The relief is sharply defined, allowing the glazes to pool beautifully within the recessed forms and giving the surface depth and texture. The tile is in fine condition and has been salvaged from a piece of furniture, which has helped preserve both the glaze and the crispness of the design.
