Art Nouveau Tile – Gilardoni & Fils, Choisy-le-Roi, France, circa 1900 Large and beautifully decorated Art Nouveau ceramic tile produced by Gilardoni & Fils, Choisy-le-Roi, France, around 1900. The tile features an elegant floral composition with stylized poppies and seed pods, surrounded by flowing organic lines and decorative foliage. The design is framed within a circular composition set inside a square border, a typical arrangement seen in French Art Nouveau decorative arts. The decoration is executed in the tubeline technique, where raised lines of slip separate the different coloured glazes, allowing the colours to remain clearly defined and creating a subtle relief effect. Very good antique condition with attractive light age-related craquelure, typical for tiles of this period.
