Rare Art Nouveau Tile – DT-AG – c. 1900 A striking and unusual Art Nouveau tile by DT-AG, dating from circa 1900. The tile features a bold, highly stylised symmetrical design with sweeping curved forms, characteristic of the Jugendstil period. Particularly attractive is the rare colour combination, with deep turquoise blue, olive green and almost black glazed sections creating a dramatic and sophisticated composition. The decoration is executed in dust-pressed relief, with raised outlines separating the different areas of rich coloured glaze. The strong geometric character combined with flowing organic curves gives the tile a distinctly modern appearance for its period. The tile is in overall good antique condition, with light traces of use, including a light scratches to the background glaze and minor age-related surface wear.
