Tubelined pictorial tile, produced in Boizenburg, Germany, circa 1900–1910. This square ceramic tile depicts a stylised swan gliding on water, rendered in the characteristic tubelined (slip-trailed) technique. The swan is shown in profile with an elegantly curved neck and simplified, flowing forms, outlined in dark slip that separates the coloured glazes. The background consists of softly graded blue and turquoise glazes, suggesting sky and water, while fine linear accents evoke ripples on the surface. The swan itself is finished in an opaque white glaze, creating a strong contrast against the cooler tones. This extremely rare tile is in good condition with only very light traces of use.
