AN4952 Boizenburg tile SOLD

This refined ceramic tile was produced around 1900 in Boizenburg, Boizeburg an der Elbe, Germany. The design presents a stylized maritime scene in which three sailing ships move calmly across a softly undulating sea, illuminated by a low sun on the horizon. The composition is enclosed within a strong geometric border, softened by flowing corner motifs that reflect the characteristic blend of structure and organic form typical of Art Nouveau design. The molded relief gives the sails and waves a gentle sense of depth and movement. The central vessel, with its sweeping, almost sculptural sail, anchors the composition and conveys a feeling of quiet dynamism. Very good condition tile but with several tiny glaze chips to right side of tile.
