AN4664 Boizenburg tile € 99,00

This expressive Art Nouveau tile was produced by Boizenburger Wandplattenfabrik, Boizenburg an der Elbe, a factory founded in 1903 and still active today. Its long-standing ceramic heritage is preserved in the town’s renowned tile museum. The design depicts a stylised wading bird nestled among tall reeds, rendered in soft tonal glazes of olive green, sky blue, brown, and black. The oval framing adds focus to the motif and highlights the organic curves typical of Jugendstil design. The relief is sharply defined, allowing the glossy glazes to settle beautifully into the recessed contours and enhancing the flowing shapes of the composition. The surface shows visible craquelure, consistent with age, and the tile presents damage to the lower corners, though the central image remains unaffected and visually strong.
