Art Nouveau pictorial tile, produced by Wessel, Bonn, circa 1900–1910. This square ceramic tile depicts a stylised potted tree, rendered in a highly decorative and symbolic Art Nouveau manner. The rounded green canopy is dotted with small golden-yellow fruit or blossoms, outlined in relief, giving the composition a rhythmic and ornamental quality. The tile is executed in moulded relief with translucent coloured glazes. light surface wear and fine glaze crazing consistent with age.
