This striking Art Nouveau tile was produced by Georg Bankel, Wandplattenfabrik, Lauf near Nuremberg, a manufacturer active making art nouveau tiles rom 1905 onward and known for its inventive decorative tile designs. Executed in crisp dust-pressed relief, the tile features a bold geometric composition characteristic of the transitional period between Jugendstil and early modernism. Three stylised, shield-like motifs dominate the design, each built from layered oval and triangular forms in vibrant shades of golden yellow and deep cobalt blue. These rhythmic shapes give the tile a strong architectural presence, while the soft blue ground provides a calm backdrop that enhances their sculptural clarity. A decorative frieze along the top echoes the same colour palette and reinforces the symmetrical balance of the composition. The glossy glaze is evenly applied with subtle shading around the relief, lending depth and refinement to the surface. The tile is in excellent condition with clean edges, strong colours, and beautifully preserved relief.
